Singapore & Spalding Parent Event

Faculty will lead a workshop on Singapore Mathematics and The Spalding program for parents. Parents will have the opportunity to learn about the overall philosophy of our math curriculum. Specific topics will be overviewed, allowing parents to see the development of the Singapore concepts and skills. Parents will be exposed to elements of Singapore Math that make it unique including the importance of number sense and mental math, the use of manipulatives and the use of bar models.
Parents will learn the philosophy and procedures for our phonics program, The Spalding Method. Parents will learn specific handwriting instruction and coaching skills for phonograms. An emphasis will be on manuscript writing, pencil and paper positions and instructions for homework procedures. Learn reasons for marking and rules used in The Spalding Method by actively applying analysis to the Ayres List of Vocabulary Words. Please RSVP.
